Idea Overview:
Bijou Epergne, is a fundraising service that sells jewelry on behalf of non-profit organizations that support economic development. We sell luxury jewelry to collectors. Then we use a percentage of the profit to match donations and offer quarterly rebates to donors. The result is a virtuous cycle of giving and wealth creation that survives regardless of economic conditions.
Who might use it/where it might be used?:
Examples of economic development organizations include institutions like chambers of commerce or business council for the arts.
The Market (B2B, B2C or Both):
Business to Business (B2B)
Sector the idea belongs to:
Retail
Is there a similar idea to be found?:
We are a combination of an online fundraising service and jewelry store. For example, imagine if GoFundMe acquired H.Samuel Jewelers. The closest comparison is Rolex. They sell a luxury item. However the company is controlled by a charitable foundation.
Why you think there is a demand for your idea?:
From my interviews and research, Chambers of Commerce and other economic development organizations (EDOs) are constantly looking for innovative sources of non-dues based revenue.
Who would be the ideal customers?:
Ideal customers include jewelry collectors and EDO members.
What ideas do you have to reach these customers?:
SEO, social media and EDO events.
How far have you developed this idea?:
The business model is solid and approved by SCORE, The website is 70% completed. I have a technical co-founder, The law firm Husch Blackwell will represent me as soon as I am post-revenue. I just need to confirm product/market fit with a pilot program and customer surveys.
What – if any – feedback have you had for this idea so far?:
I've spoken to representatives from 8 chambers of commerce. They love the idea. I just need to decide which one is perfect for the pilot program.
What supporting material – if any - would you like to add to your proposal?:
I have a website and PowerPoint available upon request.

What’s your plan to engage with jewelry collectors? Have you interviewed any yet?
