Idea Overview:
The late Gerry Anderson created programmes such as Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet, Stingray, Space 1999, UFO and many more.
Every generation rediscovers his work.
No Strings Attached is an exhibition which shows the life and work of the man and the company.
Who might use it/where it might be used?:
Thunderbirds has been a popular programme for nearly 5 decades, and has captured 3 generations. Add in comics, feature films and new TV series and it's possible to see the rich audience appeal.
The Market (B2B, B2C or Both):
Business to Consumers (B2C)
Sector the idea belongs to:
Business services
Why you think there is a demand for your idea?:
There are numerous exhibitions such as ComicCon which show the appeal of old TV programmes, but nothing has been done (outdie the small, dedicated fan club) to bring all the programmes to a wider audience.
Who would be the ideal customers?:
People who have a nostalgic memory for these programmes (50+).
Those who remember the later programmes (40+)
Those who enjoy live evemnts (all)
What ideas do you have to reach these customers?:
There are frequent reboots of these programmes, so starting with ITV (who own all Gerry Anderson rights) and looking at the new online distribution channels is a great way to reach potential attendees globally.
How far have you developed this idea?:
Had initial discussion with both Gerry Anderson and ITV but discussions stopped after the relative failure of the Thunderbirds movie.
What – if any – feedback have you had for this idea so far?:
Long discussions with ITV but the issue of the film (Thunderbirds, 2003) caused withdrawal from discussions.
What supporting material – if any - would you like to add to your proposal?:
Sonme PDF designs exist, and could be made available at the next stage.
